La Paz: An explosion at a military base in Viacha, western Bolivia, has reportedly killed between 10 and 15 people and injured around 60 others. Seven people are also reported to be missing following the blast. The explosion occurred at a military complex in Viacha, a city located about 30 kilometres (19 miles) from Bolivia’s capital, La Paz.
According to authorities, the blast took place at approximately 2:30 PM local time on Friday. Emergency services were deployed to the site as authorities assessed the damage and searched for people reported missing.
Explosion Occurred Near Military Pyrotechnic Storage Area
Authorities said the explosion occurred in an area where pyrotechnic materials used for military signals were stored. Local media also reported that fireworks were being stored at the site.
