A 24-year-old fishing worker from Chikkamagaluru was allegedly stabbed to death at Malpe harbour in Udupi district on August 25. The victim, identified as Abhishek, worked on the Sri Mahakali boat. Police have detained Govinda Raju from Raichur in connection with the incident. Preliminary questioning reportedly indicates that the attack took place while the accused was under the influence of alcohol.


Udupi: A fishing worker was allegedly stabbed to death at Malpe harbour in Udupi district on Monday morning. Police have detained a man in connection with the killing and are questioning him.


The deceased has been identified as 24-year-old Abhishek, a native of Chikkamagaluru district. He was reportedly working as a labourer on the Sri Mahakali fishing boat. The accused has been identified as Govinda Raju, who is reportedly from Raichur.


Malpe Harbour Knife Attack Kills Fishing Worker

According to preliminary information, the incident occurred at Malpe harbour in the early hours of Monday.


Police said Govinda Raju allegedly attacked Abhishek with a knife and fled from the spot immediately after the incident. The injured worker was found following the attack, but he succumbed to his injuries.


Police subsequently traced and detained the accused for questioning.

Police have detained Govinda Raju in connection with the killing and are questioning him about the circumstances of the attack.

Accused Questioned Over Malpe Murder

During preliminary questioning, police reportedly learned that the accused had allegedly stabbed Abhishek while under the influence of alcohol.
