A family of four from Davangere has been missing since August 14 after reportedly leaving for Bengaluru. Police found a letter at their home referring to loans and repayment difficulties, while a complaint has been filed at Vidyanagar police station.
Davangere: Four members of the same family have gone missing from the Banashankari area of Davangere under circumstances being investigated by police. The missing persons are Ramesh Kumar, 38, his wife Jayaseel, 36, their son Hitesh, 9, and daughter Prerana, 3.
The family had informed relatives that they were going to Bengaluru but have not returned or contacted anyone since leaving home on August 14. Their mobile phones have reportedly remained switched off.
A complaint has been registered at Vidyanagar police station, and police are searching for the missing family members.
Davangere Family Missing Since August 14
Ramesh Kumar, a resident of Shagale village in Davangere taluk, was involved in stock investment and had settled in Davangere. According to the information available, he had collected money from members of the public and invested it in the stock market.
The family is reported to have faced financial difficulties after Ramesh Kumar suffered losses in the stock market.
On August 14, Ramesh Kumar reportedly called his parents and informed them that he would be travelling to Bengaluru. The family then left their car and motorcycle near their house and travelled to the city's KSRTC bus stand in an auto-rickshaw.
After that, Ramesh Kumar switched off his mobile phone. No one has reportedly been able to contact him or the other members of the family since then.
Missing Family Leaves Letter at Home
Concern increased after Ramesh Kumar and his family did not return and did not visit their relatives' houses. During the initial investigation, police reportedly found a letter at the family's home. The letter stated that the family had taken loans and that they were unable to repay them.
The letter also said that the family had not done injustice to anyone despite having borrowed money. It reportedly stated that they were leaving because they could not repay the loans and asked people not to search for them.
The letter also referred to concerns about bringing disrepute to their relatives. According to the information available, the letter was written by family members before they left their home.
Vidyanagar Police Search for Missing Family
After the family could not be contacted, Ramesh Kumar's relatives approached Vidyanagar police station and filed a complaint.
Police have begun searching for Ramesh Kumar, Jayaseel, Hitesh and Prerana. Their movements after leaving home and travelling towards the KSRTC bus stand are part of the ongoing investigation.
The family's car and motorcycle were reportedly left near their residence, while they travelled to the bus stand by auto-rickshaw.
The police investigation is continuing to establish where the family travelled after leaving Davangere and what happened after their mobile phones were switched off.
