Students from various colleges in Shivamogga, under the banner of the NSUI district unit, staged a large-scale protest against alleged irregularities in the NEET examination. The protesters demanded the abolition of NEET, the implementation of the Common Entrance Test (CET), and the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan over the alleged examination malpractice.

Shivamogga: Students from several colleges in Shivamogga, under the leadership of the National Students' Union of India (NSUI) district unit, staged a massive protest march on Tuesday demanding the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan over the alleged irregularities in the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET).


The protesters raised slogans calling for the abolition of NEET and the implementation of the Common Entrance Test (CET), alleging that repeated controversies surrounding the national-level entrance examination have undermined the confidence of students and parents.

Shivamogga NEET Protest Witnesses Massive Student Participation

The protest witnessed the participation of students from various educational institutions across Shivamogga.


Demonstrators organised two separate protest marches, beginning from the Science Ground and the Bus Stand, before converging at Gopi Circle in the heart of the city.


Throughout the rally, students raised slogans including "Abolish NEET, Implement CET", urging the Central Government to replace NEET with a state-level entrance system.


The march attracted significant public attention as protesters voiced concerns over the alleged irregularities in the examination process.


Shivamogga NEET Protest: Public Meeting Held at Gopi Circle

Following the protest march, a public meeting was organised at Gopi Circle under the leadership of the District Congress Committee.


The gathering was held to condemn the alleged malpractice and irregularities in the NEET examination and to reiterate the demand for the implementation of CET as an alternative admission mechanism for professional courses.


Students and Congress leaders addressed the gathering, expressing concern over the impact of examination controversies on aspiring medical students.

"The public meeting called for greater transparency in entrance examinations and urged the authorities to restore students' confidence in the admission process."

Addressing the gathering, student leaders and District Congress Committee representatives held Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan responsible for the alleged irregularities in the NEET examination.


The speakers demanded his immediate resignation, alleging that the repeated controversies surrounding the examination reflected administrative failures within the education system.

The protesters also urged the Central Government to introduce reforms that would ensure transparency, fairness and accountability in national-level entrance examinations.

The demonstration concluded peacefully after the organisers submitted their demands and reiterated their call for a more reliable and equitable admission process for students across the country.
