KRS leaders and citizens accuse district officials of neglecting public issues and favouring political interests
Tumakuru: Serious allegations of administrative failure and deteriorating law and order have intensified political and public pressure for the transfer of the Deputy Commissioner and Superintendent of Police in Tumakuru district, the home district of Karnataka Home Minister Dr. G. Parameshwara.
Public criticism against the district administration has been growing over the past several months, with opposition voices, activists and citizens alleging that key officials have prioritised political interests over public service. The controversy has now triggered widespread discussion over whether the Karnataka government will intervene and reshuffle the district’s top administrative officers.
Tumakuru Administration Faces Allegations of Mismanagement
Critics allege that governance standards in Tumakuru have weakened significantly despite the district being represented by the state’s Home Minister. Questions are being raised over delays in administrative action, alleged favouritism and the handling of public grievances.
The Deputy Commissioner, Superintendent of Police, Chief Executive Officer and municipal authorities have all faced criticism from sections of the public and political groups. Allegations have surfaced claiming that senior officers have been functioning more as political coordinators rather than independent administrators serving citizens.
The controversy has gained further attention because the current Tumakuru Deputy Commissioner and Superintendent of Police have continued in their positions for more than two years, with some alleging that prolonged tenure has contributed to administrative stagnation.
KRS Party Intensifies Protest Against Tumakuru Officials
The Karnataka Rashtra Samithi Party has been continuously protesting against the district administration and demanding immediate transfers of the Deputy Commissioner and Superintendent of Police.
KRS leaders alleged irregularities in the allotment of Gomala land to an influential individual in Tummulu village of Madhugiri taluk. According to the party, action was taken only against a village accountant, while the broader allegations were allegedly ignored.
Party members further accused officials of acting as “event managers” for political leaders instead of focusing on the concerns of farmers, labourers and ordinary citizens.
“The Deputy Commissioner and Superintendent of Police of Tumakuru are not eligible to continue in service. Instead of serving poor people, farmers and oppressed communities, they are functioning like political watchdogs,” alleged KRS State Secretary Mallikarjuna Bhattarahalli.
He further warned that public dissatisfaction would continue to grow if administrative changes were not made in the district.
Public Criticism Mounts on Social Media Platforms
The controversy has also spilt onto social media, where several users reportedly criticised the functioning of the district administration on the official Facebook page of the Tumakuru Deputy Commissioner.
Citizens allegedly questioned whether officials were working for the public or political interests, while demanding immediate administrative accountability in the district.
The criticism has placed additional pressure on the district administration amid growing political attention surrounding governance issues in Tumakuru.
Home Minister Parameshwara Indirectly Drawn Into Controversy
Although Home Minister Dr. G. Parameshwara is widely regarded as a calm and non-controversial political leader, critics argue that the alleged failures of district officials are indirectly affecting his public image.
KRS leaders and several local voices have demanded that the state government appoint “competent and people-oriented” officers to restore public confidence and improve governance standards in Tumakuru district.
Meanwhile, no official response has yet been issued by the district administration regarding the allegations and transfer demands. |
