Vikarabad: A fresh case involving an alleged attempt to sexually assault a minor girl in Tandur constituency of Vikarabad district has triggered widespread concern among local residents, especially parents, amid a series of recent crimes against children in the region. Police have arrested the accused and registered a case under the POCSO Act following the incident reported from Bennur village in Yalala mandal.

The incident comes days after another shocking case reported in Jivangi village of Basheerabad mandal, intensifying fears over the safety of minor girls in the district. The repeated incidents have sparked outrage among women’s groups and social organisations, who are demanding stronger preventive measures and speedy justice.

According to police officials, the accused, identified as Faran, allegedly attempted to sexually assault a minor girl from the same village on the night of May 14. Following the incident, the victim’s family immediately approached the Yalala Police Station and lodged a formal complaint.

POCSO Case Registered In Yalala Assault Attempt

Acting swiftly on the complaint, police officials led by Sub-Inspector Vittal Reddy reached the village and gathered preliminary evidence. Authorities confirmed that the accused was taken into custody within hours of the complaint being filed.

Vittal Reddy stated that a case has been registered against the accused under the provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, commonly known as the POCSO Act. Police later produced the accused before a court, following which he was remanded.

Tandur Crime Cases Raise Child Safety Concerns

The latest incident has once again highlighted growing concerns over crimes against children in Tandur and nearby areas. Residents and local organisations have expressed anger over the recurring attacks and called for stricter law enforcement and enhanced protection measures for minors.

“Those committing crimes against minor girls should face strict punishment through fast-track courts,” local activists and parents reportedly demanded.

Women’s associations and public groups have urged the government and police department to intensify surveillance, increase patrolling in vulnerable areas, and create stronger awareness programs to ensure child safety.

Vikarabad Police Warn Of Strict Action

Police officials in Vikarabad district reiterated that strict legal action will be taken against individuals involved in crimes against women and children. Authorities stated that any attempt to disturb law and order or target minors would be dealt with seriously under the law.

At the same time, officials advised parents to remain alert regarding the safety and activities of their children, especially in changing social conditions. Police also appealed to the public to immediately report suspicious activities to law enforcement authorities.
