Shivamogga police arrest newlywed accused who allegedly used decorated wedding car for chain snatching crime
Shivamogga: In a shocking incident from Karnataka’s Shivamogga district, a newly married man was arrested for allegedly carrying out a chain snatching crime just days after his wedding. Police revealed that the accused used the same car decorated for his marriage while committing the theft, leaving even investigators stunned during the probe.
The accused has been identified as Manjunath, a resident of Bikonahalli village in Shivamogga taluk. According to police, he was involved in a high-tech chain snatching case reported from Abbalagere village on May 23.
Authorities stated that the accused targeted a young couple who were speaking near a parked vehicle when he allegedly arrived in a car and snatched a gold chain from the woman before fleeing the scene.
Shivamogga Chain Snatching Case Cracked Through Car Number
Police said the victims managed to notice the vehicle registration number while the accused escaped after snatching the 10-gram gold chain from the woman’s neck. Based on the information provided by the couple, a complaint was filed at the Shivamogga Rural Police Station.
Investigators immediately launched an operation to trace the accused using the vehicle details. The probe ultimately led officers to Manjunath, who was arrested along with the car allegedly used in the crime.
During the investigation, police also recovered the stolen gold chain.
What surprised officers further was the condition of the vehicle. Police found that wedding decorations attached during the accused’s recent marriage were still visible on the car, indicating that the crime was allegedly committed within days of the wedding ceremony.
“The accused had reportedly gotten married only ten days ago, but continued his criminal activities even after marriage,” police sources revealed.
Police Say Accused Targeted Couples for Gold Theft
According to investigators, Manjunath allegedly had a history of targeting couples in isolated areas and stealing gold ornaments. Police suspect he had carried out similar crimes earlier as well, although no formal complaints had been registered against him at the time.
Officials believe the accused adopted a stylish and organized approach while committing thefts, which led locals to describe him as a “high-tech thief.”
The arrest has sparked discussion locally after details emerged that the accused allegedly pursued thefts to maintain a luxurious and flashy lifestyle despite recently getting married.
Wedding Decorations on Car Shock Investigators
Police officers involved in the case reportedly expressed surprise after discovering that the vehicle used during the chain snatching still carried decorative items from the wedding ceremony.
Investigators said the accused appeared to have resumed criminal activity almost immediately after his marriage instead of beginning a new family life.
The incident has attracted significant attention across Shivamogga district due to the unusual circumstances surrounding the arrest and the dramatic contrast between the accused’s recent wedding celebrations and alleged criminal involvement.
Authorities are now investigating whether the accused may be linked to additional chain snatching incidents reported in nearby areas.
