Heavy pre-monsoon rain lashes Karnataka, causing a child's death in Bidar, massive tree falls

Bengaluru: Intense pre-monsoon rains accompanied by strong winds and hailstorms caused widespread destruction across Karnataka on Tuesday night, leaving a six-year-old girl dead in Bidar district and disrupting normal life in several parts of Bengaluru.

The severe weather triggered roof collapses, uprooted massive trees, flooded roads, and disrupted traffic movement across the state capital. Rainwater also reportedly leaked inside Terminal 1 of Kempegowda International Airport in Devanahalli, causing inconvenience to passengers.

Bidar Hailstorm Claims Life of Six Year Old Girl
A tragic incident was reported from Hulsur taluk in Bidar district, where a house roof collapsed during a hailstorm and heavy winds near the Tahsildar office area.

Officials said heavy stones from the roof fell directly inside the house, killing six-year-old Mahera on the spot. Four other family members sustained serious injuries and were shifted to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Local authorities later visited the accident site and began assessing the damage caused by the storm.
“The intensity of the wind and hailstorm caused sudden structural collapse in the area,” officials said after inspecting the location.
Bengaluru Rain Havoc Uproots Trees Across City
In Bengaluru, strong winds reportedly reaching speeds of 40 to 60 kmph uprooted large trees across multiple areas, including Indiranagar, KR Puram, Mahadevapura, Malleswaram, Peenya, Sanjaynagar, Jalahalli, and Whitefield.

Major roads witnessed severe traffic congestion after trees collapsed onto busy stretches during peak evening hours. In Whitefield alone, multiple trees reportedly fell at different locations, leading to kilometre-long vehicle queues near Shantiniketan Junction.
Authorities also barricaded the KR Circle underpass as a precautionary measure following heavy waterlogging.
Several service roads near Hebbal and the KR Puram Ring Road were completely submerged, forcing motorists to navigate through flooded streets amid continuous rainfall.
