23-year-old engineering student allegedly killed over a long-standing relationship dispute in Chilakalguda

Hyderabad: A shocking murder in Hyderabad’s Secunderabad area has triggered tension after a 23-year-old BTech student was allegedly chased through the streets and brutally stabbed to death by a group of attackers in Chilakalguda late Thursday night.

The victim has been identified as Yavan, a third-year BTech student and resident of Jawahar Nagar. According to police investigators, the attack may be linked to a long-standing relationship dispute involving a young woman from Sitaphalmandi, with whom Yavan was reportedly in a relationship for nearly four years.

The brutal daylight-style street murder created panic in the locality and sparked protests by the victim’s family members and friends, who demanded the immediate arrest of those responsible.

Attackers Allegedly Stormed House During Cricket Match

According to police sources and eyewitness accounts, the incident occurred while Yavan was watching a cricket match with friends at a residence in Chilakalguda.

Witnesses told investigators that around six unidentified men arrived at the location on three motorcycles carrying knives and other weapons. The group allegedly entered the house and launched a violent attack on Yavan.

Police said the attackers stabbed the victim multiple times on the head, neck, and other parts of the body in a brutal assault.

Victim Tried to Escape But Was Chased on the Street

Investigators said Yavan attempted to escape from the attackers by running out onto the street. However, the group allegedly chased him through the road before continuing the attack in public view.

The victim reportedly collapsed on the roadside in a pool of blood after sustaining critical injuries. Local residents and friends rushed him to Gandhi Hospital, where doctors declared him dead.

The incident has sent shockwaves across the Secunderabad region, especially among students and residents in the area.

Police Suspect Relationship Angle Behind Murder

According to investigators, the family of the young woman had previously objected to Yavan’s relationship with her and had allegedly warned him against maintaining contact.

Despite the objections, police believe Yavan continued meeting the woman and had reportedly been staying with a friend in Indira Nagar, Sitaphalmandi, while remaining in communication with her.

Authorities are now investigating whether the attack was pre-planned and whether the murder was directly linked to the relationship dispute.

Family Members Protest Outside Girl’s House

Dramatic scenes unfolded on Friday morning after Yavan’s relatives and friends gathered outside the young woman’s residence in Sitaphalmandi.

The protesters accused the woman’s family of conspiring in the murder and demanded strict action against all the accused persons. Police personnel were deployed in large numbers to control the situation and prevent escalation.

Chilakalguda police have registered a murder case and launched an intensive investigation to identify and arrest the attackers involved in the crime.

Officials said CCTV footage, witness statements, and call records are being examined as part of the investigation.
