East Champaran: A shocking incident from Bihar’s Motihari has triggered outrage on social media after a viral video allegedly showed a husband tying his wife with ropes and chaining her to a pole during a domestic dispute.
The disturbing incident reportedly took place in Pachkharwa village under the jurisdiction of the Kalyanpur Police Station.
According to reports, the dispute between the couple escalated after repeated disagreements and an ongoing legal conflict between them.
The video, which has now spread widely across social media platforms, allegedly shows the woman tied to a pole with her hands and legs restrained using ropes and chains.
Husband Claims Wife Frequently Ran Away From Home
When questioned about the incident, the husband identified as Vijay Giri reportedly told locals and police that his wife repeatedly left the house and that several disputes between them were already pending in court.
“She keeps running away from home, so I tied her up,” the husband allegedly stated while explaining his actions.
However, the shocking justification reportedly stunned both police officials and local residents after the video surfaced online.
The woman, identified as Shobha Devi, alleged that her husband often assaulted her, refused to speak with her and did not eat food prepared by her.
She reportedly told officials that she had earlier approached the police station seeking help regarding repeated domestic disputes.
Woman Rescued After Police Reach Spot
According to reports, the situation escalated after the husband allegedly assaulted her, following which she attempted to leave the house again.
The husband then allegedly tied her to the pole using ropes.
After receiving information about the incident, a Dial 112 police team reached the village along with the woman’s father and rescued her from the spot.
“I left the house after my husband started beating me,” the woman reportedly told police after being rescued.
The viral visuals from the village have now sparked widespread criticism online, with many users questioning how such treatment could be inflicted on a woman in a domestic setting.
