Wedding called off in Nagla Bhim as music selection row escalates into gunfire leaving one critically injured
Nagla Bhim: A wedding celebration in Uttar Pradesh descended into chaos after an argument over DJ songs allegedly escalated into gunfire, leaving the bride’s cousin critically injured and forcing the marriage ceremony to be called off, police said on Thursday.
The incident occurred on Wednesday night in Nagla Bhim village under the jurisdiction of the Marhara Police Station during the wedding ceremony of Aarti, daughter of Charan Singh.
According to police officials, the dispute reportedly broke out between members of the bride’s family and relatives accompanying the groom’s baraat, which had arrived from the Soron Gate area of Kasganj.
Argument Over DJ Songs Escalates Into Firing
Police said tensions escalated during a disagreement over which songs should be played on the DJ system at the wedding function. During the altercation, a youth allegedly opened fire using a country-made pistol.
The bullet reportedly struck Akash, the bride’s maternal cousin, in the chest, triggering panic and chaos at the venue.
Family members immediately rushed the injured youth to a nearby hospital. Due to the seriousness of his injuries, doctors later referred him to Varun Trauma Centre in Aligarh for advanced treatment.
“The argument during the wedding function suddenly turned violent, resulting in firing and serious injuries to one person,” police officials said.
Wedding Cancelled After Violence
Following the shooting incident, the bride’s family reportedly refused to continue with the marriage ceremony and sent the wedding procession back without completing the wedding rituals.
Circle Officer Sankalp Deep Kushwaha confirmed that the violence and tension resulting from the dispute ultimately led to the cancellation of the wedding.
The shocking incident has sparked discussion locally over rising incidents of violence during wedding celebrations and the misuse of firearms during social gatherings.

Station House Officer KK Lothi stated that a case has been registered against four individuals based on a complaint filed by the victim’s family. One of the accused has been identified as Vishnu.
Additional Superintendent of Police Shwetabh Pandey confirmed that one accused has already been arrested, while police teams are conducting raids to apprehend the remaining suspects involved in the firing.
