Police suspect robbery motive after a woman and her 13-year-old son were found murdered inside their Govindpuri home in Delhi
New Delhi: A shocking double murder case has sent panic across the national capital after a woman and her teenage son were brutally stabbed to death inside their residence in southeast Delhi’s Govindpuri area during the early hours of Thursday.
According to Delhi Police, the victims have been identified as Sharda Sahu, a 38-year-old homemaker, and her 13-year-old son, who was studying in Class 7.
Police officials stated that a distress call regarding the murders was received around 1:11 am, following which emergency teams rushed to the location in Govindpuri.
Govindpuri Double Murder Shocks Delhi
Upon reaching the house, police discovered the bodies of the mother and son with multiple stab injuries. The brutal nature of the attack has raised serious concerns among residents in the locality.
Investigators suspect that robbery could be the primary motive behind the killings, though officials have not ruled out other angles at this stage of the investigation.
Sources indicated that the attackers may have entered the residence during the night before carrying out the fatal assault. The crime scene was immediately sealed, and forensic experts were called to collect evidence from the house.
“The exact sequence of events and motive are under investigation. Robbery is one of the suspected angles being examined,” police sources said.
Delhi Police Launch Murder Investigation
Teams from Delhi Police Crime Branch and forensic units have reportedly begun examining CCTV footage from nearby areas, questioning local residents, and tracing possible suspects connected to the incident.
Officials are also verifying whether valuables or cash were missing from the residence, which could strengthen the robbery angle in the case.
The bodies of the victims have been sent for postmortem examination to determine the exact cause and timing of death.
