Chikkaballapur: Five people were killed, and more than 10 others sustained serious injuries in a horrific chain-reaction road accident near Sunkalamma Temple in Bagepalli taluk of Karnataka's Chikkaballapur district on Saturday. The victims included four women and the auto-rickshaw driver, all of whom died on the spot.
The tragic accident involved a Thar SUV, an auto-rickshaw and a canter vehicle. Emergency responders rushed the injured to nearby hospitals, where several are undergoing treatment for serious injuries.
Chikkaballapur Road Accident
According to preliminary reports, the Thar SUV was travelling at high speed when it allegedly rammed into an auto-rickshaw moving ahead of it. The impact was so severe that the auto lost control and crashed into a canter vehicle in front.
The force of the collision completely crushed the auto-rickshaw, trapping its occupants inside. Five people, including four women and the driver, died instantly at the scene.
Authorities stated that the identities of the deceased had not been officially confirmed at the time of reporting.
Over 10 Injured in Bagepalli Crash
More than ten people suffered injuries in the accident. Local residents and emergency personnel immediately launched rescue operations and shifted the injured victims to various hospitals for treatment.
Medical teams are closely monitoring several critically injured patients, while officials continue to assess the full extent of the casualties.
Police Investigation Underway
Senior police officials, including Chikkaballapur Superintendent of Police Kushal Chowksey, visited the accident site and reviewed the circumstances leading to the crash.
Police have registered a case at the Bagepalli Police Station and initiated an investigation to determine the exact cause of the accident. Authorities are examining vehicle speeds, road conditions and eyewitness accounts as part of the probe.
