A 17-year-old PUC student working as a part-time bike taxi rider was allegedly stabbed multiple times following a road rage dispute in Bengaluru
Bengaluru: A shocking case of road rage has surfaced in Bengaluru after a 17-year-old second PUC student was allegedly stabbed multiple times by a group of assailants following a minor traffic dispute. The teenager, who works part-time as a bike taxi rider, sustained serious injuries to his chest, neck and back and is currently undergoing treatment in the intensive care unit (ICU) of a private hospital.
Police have registered a case of attempt to murder and launched a manhunt for the accused. Investigators are examining CCTV footage from the area and have formed a special team to trace those involved in the attack.
Bengaluru Road Rage Incident Turns Violent
According to preliminary information, the incident occurred when the student was travelling towards a juice shop where he frequently met his friends. During the journey, a biker reportedly honked repeatedly and asked him to move aside.
Police sources said the student complied and gave way to the rider. However, the situation allegedly escalated when the biker began shouting and confronting the teenager, leading to a verbal altercation between the two.
What initially appeared to be a routine traffic disagreement soon turned into a violent confrontation.
"A minor dispute over giving way on the road allegedly escalated into a brutal attack that left the teenager seriously injured."
The incident has once again highlighted growing concerns over aggressive behaviour and violent road rage incidents in the city.
Accused Allegedly Blocked Student and Attempted Assault
Investigators said the biker later approached another rider, and together they allegedly intercepted the student's vehicle. The accused reportedly snatched the bike keys and forced the teenager towards a nearby bar.
According to the complaint, the assailants attempted to physically assault the student when the area was relatively deserted. The situation reportedly changed after one of the student's relatives intervened, prompting the accused to leave the spot temporarily.
Police believe the confrontation could have ended there, but events took a far more serious turn shortly afterwards.
Teenager Stabbed Multiple Times on Roadside
After moving away from the location, the student allegedly encountered the same individuals again, this time accompanied by another person.
Police said the trio reportedly dragged the teenager to the roadside and attacked him with a knife. The victim sustained severe injuries to the chest, neck and back during the assault.
The teenager collapsed on the road and was found lying in a pool of blood before local residents and passersby rushed to his aid.
"The student suffered multiple stab injuries and was immediately shifted to a nearby private hospital for emergency treatment."
Medical sources indicated that the victim is currently receiving treatment in the ICU and is believed to be out of immediate danger.
Attempt to Murder Case Registered
Based on a complaint filed by the student's parents, police have registered a case under multiple sections, including attempt to murder.
Investigators have collected CCTV footage from surrounding areas and are analysing visual evidence to identify and locate the suspects. A dedicated police team has been assigned to track down the accused, who remain absconding.
Officials said witness statements are also being recorded as part of the ongoing investigation.
Rising Road Rage Incidents Raise Public Concern
The latest incident has reignited concerns about increasing cases of road rage and violent confrontations in Bengaluru. Residents have expressed alarm over the use of deadly weapons during disputes arising from minor traffic disagreements.
Law enforcement officials have reiterated that strict action will be taken against those responsible and urged motorists to resolve conflicts peacefully rather than resorting to violence.
As the investigation progresses, police are expected to make further disclosures regarding the identities of the accused and the circumstances that led to the brutal attack.
