Frequent quarrels over house access allegedly led to fatal stabbing in Karadigudda village


Dharwad: A shocking murder case has surfaced from Karadigudda village in Dharwad taluk, where a long-standing dispute between two brothers over a pathway near their house allegedly ended in a fatal knife attack on Monday night.


The deceased has been identified as Mallaiah Chikkamatha, a resident of Karadigudda village in Dharwad. Police said the accused, identified as his younger brother Srikanth, allegedly stabbed Mallaiah to death following a heated altercation inside their residence.


According to preliminary investigation details, the two brothers had been living separately despite sharing the same house premises. Frequent arguments reportedly broke out between them over the issue of access to the pathway leading to their home.


Dharwad Murder Case Investigation

Police sources stated that tensions escalated once again on Monday night when the brothers allegedly entered into another heated argument regarding the same pathway dispute.


During the quarrel, Mallaiah reportedly attacked Srikanth with a knife. In retaliation, Srikanth allegedly snatched the weapon from his elder brother and stabbed him during the confrontation before escaping from the spot.


The seriously injured Mallaiah was immediately shifted to the Dharwad District Hospital by family members and villagers. Due to the severity of the injuries, he was later referred to KIMS Hospital for advanced treatment. However, he succumbed despite medical efforts.


Karadigudda Village Horror

The murder has created panic and tension in Karadigudda village, with residents expressing shock over the violent turn of a domestic dispute between siblings.


Senior police officers rushed to the scene soon after receiving information about the incident. Dharwad Superintendent of Police Gunjan Arya personally visited the house of the Chikkamatha family and gathered details regarding the murder.


Dharwad Rural Police Station CPI S. S. Kamatgi also inspected the crime scene and initiated legal proceedings after registering a complaint in connection with the case.

“The accused fled after the incident, and police teams are conducting searches to trace him,” police sources said.

Police officials said further investigation is underway to determine the exact circumstances that led to the murder and whether previous disputes had intensified tensions within the family.


The accused Srikanth is currently absconding, and efforts are ongoing to arrest him.
