Rajasthan police arrest husband after a five-month pregnant woman dies following an alleged assault and forced abortion in Bhilwara
Bhilwara: A horrifying case of alleged domestic violence has emerged from Rajasthan’s Bhilwara district, where a 41-year-old pregnant woman reportedly died after being brutally assaulted and allegedly forced to consume abortion pills by her husband. The incident, which took place in the BSL Colony area under Hamirgarh police station limits, has triggered outrage after medical officials described the victim’s condition as “shocking.”
Police have arrested the accused husband, identified as Gopi Singh Yadav, following allegations made by the couple’s 14-year-old daughter, who reportedly witnessed the violence inside the house.
According to investigators, the victim, identified as Roli Devi, was five months pregnant at the time of the incident. Police said she sustained severe injuries during the assault, leading to miscarriage complications, excessive bleeding, and eventually her death.
Bhilwara Domestic Violence Case Shocks Rajasthan
Police officials stated that the incident occurred on Wednesday night inside the family’s residence in BSL Colony. Preliminary investigation suggests that a domestic dispute may have triggered the violent assault.
The couple’s teenage daughter, in her statement to police, alleged that her father repeatedly assaulted her mother throughout the day. She further claimed that the accused later brought abortion pills from the market and forcibly administered them to the victim despite her deteriorating condition.
The girl reportedly informed police that all four children of the couple were present inside the house when the incident unfolded.
“The condition of the body was shocking. Multiple injuries clearly pointed to sustained violence,” a medical official involved in the postmortem reportedly stated.
Medical Report Reveals Multiple Injury Marks
A medical board that conducted the postmortem examination at Mahatma Gandhi Hospital reportedly found more than a dozen injury marks on the victim’s body, including injuries on the head, face, waist, and private parts.
Chetan Kumar, part of the medical team, reportedly stated that the injuries indicated prolonged physical assault and signs consistent with forced abortion.
Doctors at the hospital said the woman was brought in critical condition with severe blood loss. Despite medical efforts, she could not be saved.
Police Arrest Husband In Bhilwara Woman Death Case
Harjeeram confirmed that a case was registered based on the daughter’s statement and that the accused husband has been taken into custody.
Police stated that the accused is originally from Uttar Pradesh and further investigation is underway to determine the complete sequence of events and possible additional charges in the case.
Meanwhile, relatives of the deceased arrived from Uttar Pradesh following the incident, after which the postmortem was completed and the body handed over to the family.
