CCB police uncover international drug smuggling racket after hydro ganja hidden inside snack boxes arrives from US and Thailand

Bengaluru: In a major anti-drug crackdown, the Central Crime Branch of Bengaluru has seized more than 3 kilograms of high-grade hydro ganja worth nearly Rs 3 crore from the Foreign Post Office located in Chamarajpet. The narcotics were allegedly smuggled into India from the United States and Thailand through parcels disguised as ordinary snack boxes.

Officials said the sophisticated drug consignment was intercepted following precise intelligence shared by alert postal staff, who noticed suspicious parcels at the foreign mail facility. Acting swiftly, the CCB Narcotics Wing, assisted by a sniffer dog squad, conducted a surprise inspection and recovered 3.312 kilograms of hydro ganja concealed inside food packages.

Bengaluru Drug Smuggling Network Exposed Through Snack Boxes
According to investigators, international drug traffickers attempted to bypass customs and postal scrutiny by packaging the narcotics inside commercially labelled snack cartons. The parcels reportedly originated from the US and Thailand before reaching Bengaluru through the foreign postal route.

Police officials described the operation as part of a growing trend in which luxury narcotics are being smuggled into metropolitan cities through courier and postal channels. The seized hydro ganja is considered a premium-grade narcotic substance often circulated in high-end party circuits and among affluent users.
“The drugs were hidden with extreme precision inside snack boxes to avoid suspicion during transit,” a senior officer involved in the operation said.
CCB Intensifies Probe Into International Hydro Ganja Racket
Authorities are now tracing the intended recipients of the parcels and investigating the larger network operating behind the smuggling operation. Officials said the investigation is focused on identifying the Bengaluru-based receivers, financiers, and interstate distributors connected to the drug supply chain.

The parcels are believed to have been booked under fake or proxy identities, a tactic frequently used by international narcotics syndicates to evade law enforcement agencies.

The latest seizure has once again exposed how international drug networks are targeting Bengaluru using foreign postal systems and online delivery channels.

Foreign Post Office Emerging as Target for Drug Syndicates
Investigators revealed that foreign postal offices and courier services are increasingly becoming major targets for smugglers attempting to transport synthetic drugs, hydroponic cannabis, and party narcotics into India.

In previous joint operations, CCB and customs officials had seized luxury drugs worth nearly Rs 21 crore originating from countries including the Netherlands, the United States, and the United Kingdom.

Officials also recalled another major crackdown in recent months in which hydro ganja and MDMA crystals worth around Rs 5 crore intended for college students were confiscated, leading to the arrest of multiple peddlers.

Luxury Drugs Allegedly Targeting Students and Party Circuits
Police suspect the seized hydro ganja was intended for distribution among college students, nightlife circles, and high-profile party networks in Bengaluru. The city has witnessed a rise in international narcotics trafficking cases involving encrypted communication channels and anonymous parcel deliveries.

The CCB has intensified surveillance on foreign parcel movements and is coordinating with customs authorities and international agencies to identify the origin and end destination of such narcotics shipments.
