A beautician alleges repeated sexual assault under the pretext of rituals, the accused threatened the family with death and black magic, police launched a manhunt
Bengaluru: An astrologer has been accused of repeatedly sexually assaulting a woman under the pretext of performing rituals and spiritual initiation, while allegedly threatening her family with death and black magic. The accused, identified as Mohan Kumar, is currently absconding, with police launching a search operation following the registration of a First Information Report (FIR) at the C.K. Achukattu police station.
According to the complaint, the victim, a beautician who runs a training centre in Rajajinagar, came into contact with the accused through a personal reference. He allegedly gained her trust by promising financial improvement through religious rituals and spiritual practices.

The complainant stated that Mohan Kumar initially took her to Pyramid Valley in Ramanagara on January 30, 2025, under the guise of conducting a puja. During the visit, he allegedly attempted to sexually assault her in an isolated location. Subsequently, he took her to Chamundi Hills in Mysuru, where he allegedly assaulted her again inside a vehicle while returning.
The victim further alleged that the accused threatened her with severe consequences, including harm to her husband and son, if she disclosed the incidents. He reportedly claimed he would use black magic to cause their deaths, instilling fear and preventing her from approaching authorities earlier.
Sexual Assault and Blackmail Investigation: Accused Absconding
In another incident dated February 10, the accused allegedly visited the victim’s residence under the pretext of conducting an initiation ritual. After sending her husband and son out of the house, he is accused of sexually assaulting her again and issuing threats to kill her family if she resisted.
“He threatened that my husband and son would bleed to death if I spoke about this. I was living in constant fear,” the complainant stated in her police report.
Unable to endure the alleged harassment and intimidation, the victim approached the police and filed a formal complaint. Based on her statement, an FIR has been registered, and multiple locations linked to the accused are being examined.
Police officials confirmed that efforts are underway to trace and apprehend Mohan Kumar. Investigators are also verifying whether similar complaints exist in Ramanagara and Mysuru, indicating a possible pattern.
