High-speed canter suffers tyre burst, triggering a chain collision, and injured passengers rushed to Shira Taluk Hospital as traffic was disrupted
Tumakuru: A serious road accident was reported on Tuesday afternoon near Dwaralu Bridge in Tumakuru district after a tyre burst in a speeding canter vehicle led to a collision with a KSRTC bus, leaving several passengers injured.
The incident occurred around 12 noon on a national highway stretch, causing a temporary traffic disruption in the area.
Tyre Burst Triggers Sudden Collision
According to initial reports, the canter vehicle was travelling at high speed when one of its tyres burst near the bridge. The sudden loss of control led to a dangerous situation on the highway.
A Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation bus following the canter was unable to react in time and crashed into the vehicle from behind.
Bus Front Damaged, Passengers Injured
The impact of the collision caused significant damage to the front portion of the KSRTC bus, injuring multiple passengers onboard.
Emergency response teams quickly shifted the injured to Shira Taluk Hospital, where they are currently undergoing treatment. Officials have not yet released details on the severity of injuries.
Police Inspect Spot, Traffic Hit
Personnel from Tavarekere Police rushed to the accident site soon after receiving information and conducted a preliminary inspection.
The accident led to traffic congestion on the national highway for some time, before authorities worked to clear the road and restore normal movement.
Investigation Underway
Police are now examining the circumstances leading to the crash, including vehicle speed, mechanical condition, and response time, to determine further action.
