Entire family wiped out as Maruti XL6 loses control and crashes into water-filled well, rescue teams struggle amid chaos in Nashik’s Dindori taluk
Nashik: In a devastating late-night accident in Maharashtra’s Nashik district, nine people, including six children, lost their lives after a car plunged into a water-filled well in Dindori taluk. The incident has sent shockwaves across the region, with preliminary reports pointing to loss of vehicle control as the cause.
Car Loses Control, Falls Into Well
According to police officials, the accident occurred when a Maruti XL6 car veered off the road and fell directly into a nearby well. All nine occupants of the vehicle died on the spot, leaving no chance for survival. The tragic mishap unfolded late at night, reducing the chances of immediate rescue.
The victims have been identified as members of the Dargude family from Indore village, who were reportedly returning from a private function at the time of the accident.
Six Children Among the Dead
The scale of the tragedy deepened as authorities confirmed that six of the deceased were children, including a 7-year-old girl. Among those who lost their lives were Sunil Dargude, his wife, and their daughter, along with other family members.
“All nine passengers died at the scene after the vehicle fell into the well,” police officials stated, confirming the total casualty count.
Rescue Operation Hampered by Crowd
Following the incident, local residents and police teams rushed to the spot, initiating immediate rescue efforts. Personnel from the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) were also deployed to assist in the operation.
However, officials reported that the rescue process continued till late night and was significantly hampered by a large crowd that gathered at the accident site, making operations more challenging.
Probe Underway to Determine Exact Cause
While initial findings suggest that the driver lost control of the vehicle, the exact cause of the accident is yet to be established. The Dindori police have launched a detailed investigation to ascertain whether factors such as road conditions, visibility, or mechanical failure contributed to the tragedy.
