IMD warns of thundershowers and 30–40 kmph winds across Karnataka, Bengaluru to remain cloudy with chances of moderate rain

Bengaluru: The Karnataka weather situation continues to remain active as the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for 10 districts, warning of thunderstorms, gusty winds, and moderate rainfall across several parts of the state today.

After experiencing consistent rainfall over the past few days, the state is likely to witness continued wet conditions, while parts of the country are expected to remain dry.

Yellow Alert for 10 Districts
According to IMD, moderate rain accompanied by thunderstorms is likely in the following districts:

  1. Kalaburagi
  2. Dharwad
  3. Gadag
  4. Shivamogga
  5. Udupi
  6. Chikkamagaluru
  7. Hassan
  8. Dakshina Kannada
  9. Kodagu
  10. Chamarajanagar

Authorities have urged residents in these regions to remain cautious as weather conditions may turn unstable during the day.

Thunderstorms Across Interior Karnataka
The northern interior districts, including Belagavi, Dharwad, Gadag, Raichur, and Kalaburagi, are expected to receive thundershowers with gusty winds.

Similarly, in the southern interior regions, districts such as Chikkamagaluru, Kodagu, Hassan, Chamarajanagar, Mysuru, Mandya, Shivamogga, Bengaluru Rural, Bengaluru City, and Kolar are likely to witness rainfall with wind speeds reaching 30–40 kmph.

These conditions may lead to temporary disruptions, reduced visibility, and localised waterlogging in low-lying areas.

Bengaluru to See Cloudy Skies, Light to Moderate Rain
In Bengaluru, the weather is expected to remain cloudy throughout the day, with chances of light to moderate rainfall in several parts of the city. The cooler conditions are likely to bring temporary relief from rising temperatures.

IMD Advisory: Stay Alert Amid Changing Weather
The IMD has advised citizens to avoid open areas during thunderstorms, secure loose objects, and stay updated with official forecasts. Farmers and commuters have been asked to take necessary precautions due to sudden weather changes and wind activity.

With the monsoon-like pattern persisting in early summer, Karnataka is witnessing unseasonal rainfall trends, making it crucial for residents to stay prepared.
