Karnataka School Examination and Assessment Board awaits poll panel nod as election code stalls result announcement for over 7 lakh students
Bengaluru: The much-awaited Karnataka 2nd PUC Result 2026 has been delayed, leaving over 7 lakh students and their parents disappointed. While the Karnataka School Examination and Assessment Board had completed all preparations, the announcement could not be made due to administrative constraints.
Election Code of Conduct Causes Delay
The primary reason behind the postponement is the Model Code of Conduct currently in force due to by-elections in parts of Karnataka. Voting is scheduled on April 9 in key constituencies, restricting official announcements by government representatives.
Traditionally, the results are declared in the presence of the Education Minister through a press conference. However, due to the code of conduct, prior approval from the Election Commission of India is mandatory.
Board Awaits Approval from Election Commission
Sources confirm that KSEAB has already written to the Election Commission seeking permission to announce the results. As soon as approval is granted, the board is ready to declare the results immediately without further delay.
Past Precedents and Current Situation
In previous election years, such as 2018 and 2023, results were announced by officials despite the code of conduct. However, this time, the absence of clearance from the Election Commission has led to an unavoidable postponement.
