A 22-year-old woman, daughter of a senior IRS officer, was found dead at her South Delhi residence. Police suspect a former domestic worker and have launched a manhunt
New Delhi: A shocking murder case has surfaced in the national capital after the 22-year-old daughter of a senior Income Tax Department officer was found dead inside her home in South Delhi while her parents were away at the gym.
The incident took place in Amar Colony, where the victim was discovered dead on Tuesday morning. Police have launched an intensive investigation into the brutal crime.
Victim Was Alone at Home
According to police sources, the young woman was alone at home when the crime occurred. Her parents had reportedly stepped out for their regular morning gym session.
The victim was the daughter of a senior IRS officer from the 1997 batch. She had completed engineering studies and was preparing for the UPSC examination with aspirations of joining the civil services.
Assault and Murder Suspected
Preliminary findings indicate that the victim may have been sexually assaulted before being murdered. Investigators suspect she was strangled using a mobile phone charging cable.
The body has been sent for post-mortem examination to confirm the exact cause of death and gather forensic evidence.
“The sequence of events suggests the crime was planned and executed during a specific time window,” police sources said.
Former Worker Under Scanner
Police suspect the involvement of a former domestic worker identified as Rahul, a resident of Rajasthan.
He had reportedly worked at the house for around eight months before being dismissed nearly two months ago over alleged financial misuse involving household purchases.
Investigators believe the suspect knew the family’s daily routine, including the time the parents left for the gym and when the victim would be alone.
CCTV Footage Key Evidence
Officials reviewing CCTV footage from the area reportedly found a man matching the suspect’s description entering the locality around 6 am.
Police estimate the murder took place between 6:30 am and 7:30 am.
Authorities are also probing whether valuables were stolen from the house.
Massive Hunt Underway
Senior officers from South East Delhi Police and forensic teams rushed to the scene after receiving information.
Several police teams have been formed to trace and arrest the accused.
