Massive Fire Breaks Out in Hubballi Home While Family Was Away, Allegations of Electrical Negligence Surface

Hubballi: In a shocking incident that highlights rising concerns over electrical safety, a house was completely gutted in a fire triggered by a suspected short circuit in the Anand Nagar area of Hubballi on Saturday morning. The blaze reduced the home and all its contents to ashes, leaving the affected family devastated.

The house belonged to Zarina Begum, whose residence caught fire when the family had stepped out to attend a function. With no one present at the time, the flames spread rapidly, engulfing the entire house within minutes.

Entire Household Destroyed in Minutes

According to initial reports, all belongings inside the house were destroyed, including essential furniture such as beds and even valuables stored in a safe. The intensity of the fire left little scope for salvaging any property, causing massive financial loss to the already struggling family.

Local residents noticed thick smoke and alerted authorities, but by the time help arrived, the fire had already caused extensive damage.

Short Circuit Suspected, Negligence Alleged

Preliminary findings suggest that the fire was likely caused by an electrical short circuit, raising serious questions about infrastructure safety. The family has alleged negligence on the part of Hubli Electricity Supply Company Limited (HESCOM) officials, claiming that faulty electrical connections or a lack of maintenance could have led to the disaster.

“Whatever may be the reason, a proper investigation must reveal how the fire started and whether there was any negligence by officials,” the family demanded.

Police Investigation Underway

Police have registered a case and initiated an investigation to determine the exact cause of the fire. Authorities are expected to examine electrical wiring, meter connections, and maintenance records as part of the probe.
