Hassan: In a remarkable breakthrough, Hassan Police have successfully arrested a fugitive undertrial prisoner who escaped from Sakleshpur Jail in 2011 and remained on the run for nearly 15 years.

The accused, identified as Channakeshava alias Keshava alias Suresh, a resident of Nallurli village in Sakleshpur taluk, was captured in Goa after a well-planned interstate operation based on specific intelligence inputs.

The arrest is being hailed as a major achievement for the police department.
Police said Channakeshava had earlier been arrested in an attempt to murder case and was lodged in Sakleshpur jail as an undertrial prisoner.
However, in 2011, he allegedly escaped custody by evading police surveillance and disappeared.

Since then, authorities have been searching for him continuously.

How He Stayed Hidden for 15 Years
After escaping jail, the accused reportedly moved across several cities, including Mumbai and other locations to avoid detection.

Investigators believe he changed locations frequently and worked in multiple hotels and eateries under the radar to conceal his identity.
Recently, he is said to have joined work at a restaurant in Goa, which ultimately led police to his whereabouts.
Secret Tip Leads to Goa Arrest
Hassan Police received credible information that the fugitive was hiding in Goa.

A special police team immediately launched an operation, travelled to Goa, and raided the restaurant where he was employed.
The accused was taken into custody without incident and brought back to Hassan.
Sent Back to Jail
Officials confirmed that Channakeshava has now been produced before authorities and sent back to jail.

Further legal proceedings in the original case, along with matters related to prison escape, are expected to continue.
