Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has relieved political secretary Naseer Ahmed from his post after allegations linked to anti-party activity during the Davanagere bypoll triggered fresh unrest

Bengaluru: A fresh political development has emerged inside the ruling Indian National Congress in Karnataka after Chief Minister Siddaramaiah removed his political secretary Naseer Ahmed from the post.

The move comes amid continuing discontent among sections of minority leaders following the Davanagere by-election and allegations that Naseer Ahmed was involved in anti-party activities during the poll period.

Order Issued Removing Naseer Ahmed
According to political sources, an official order has been issued relieving Naseer Ahmed from the position of political secretary to the Chief Minister.

The action has triggered discussion within party circles, especially because Naseer Ahmed was considered close to the Chief Minister.

Zameer Ahmed Defends Naseer Ahmed
Reacting to the development, Minister B.Z. Zameer Ahmed Khan said Naseer Ahmed had been assigned election responsibility in Bagalkot and was working there as directed.

He stated that Chief Minister Siddaramaiah himself had instructed Naseer Ahmed to remain in Bagalkot and manage party work.

According to Zameer Ahmed, Naseer Ahmed sought permission to visit Davanagere, but the Chief Minister reportedly asked him to continue work in Bagalkot, where he remained for around ten days.
“He was working in Bagalkot under the Chief Minister’s instructions,” Zameer Ahmed said while responding to the controversy.
Minority Wing Crisis Deepens
The latest decision comes shortly after another internal development in the party. Around a week ago, the minority wing president and MLC Abdul Jabbar resigned from his post.
Following that, Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar announced that the minority wing would be dissolved and restructured.
The removal of Naseer Ahmed is now being seen as part of the continuing internal reset within the party structure.

Political Impact Under Watch
Observers say the fallout from the bypoll controversy may not end here, with speculation rising over whether the issue could create pressure on more leaders in the coming days.

The ruling party has not yet issued a detailed statement explaining the full reasons behind the decision.
