Raipur shocker as police constable and woman detained over brutal attack that killed wife and 9-year-old son, injured two daughters; probe intensifies
Raipur: A disturbing family crime has shocked Chhattisgarh after a police constable’s alleged extramarital relationship ended in tragedy, with his wife and young son killed in a knife attack at their residence. Two daughters were also injured and are undergoing treatment, according to reports.
Police have reportedly detained constable Lalitesh Yadav and a 25-year-old woman identified as Sarojini Bhardwaj in connection with the incident.
Attack Inside Constable’s Home
According to reports, the accused woman allegedly entered the constable’s residence in Durg and got into an argument with his wife, identified as Reena Yadav.
The argument reportedly escalated into violence, during which Reena was attacked with a knife. The children were also assaulted during the incident.
Authorities said a 9-year-old boy, identified as Aditya, died from injuries. Reena also succumbed to injuries. Two daughters survived and were rushed to the hospital, where they are receiving treatment.
Neighbours Responded After Hearing a Disturbance
Reports say neighbours heard screams and came to the scene, after which police were alerted. Their intervention may have helped save the two girls. Emergency responders then shifted the injured family members to the hospital.
Police Investigation Underway
Investigators are examining the sequence of events, the roles of those present, prior relationship dynamics and whether there was any failure to prevent the attack.
Because one of the accused is a police constable, the case has drawn wider public attention and scrutiny.
