New Delhi: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) on Wednesday officially declared the Class 10 board examination results 2026, recording an overall pass percentage of 93.70 per cent, marking a marginal rise from last year’s 93.66 per cent.

“The results have been declared,” a senior board official confirmed, signaling the culmination of one of India’s largest school-level examinations.

Girls Continue Academic Dominance

Continuing the trend of recent years, girls have once again outperformed boys in the CBSE Class 10 results. The pass percentage among girls stood at 94.99 per cent, which is 1.3 percentage points higher than that of boys. This consistent academic edge highlights a growing shift in performance trends across the country’s education landscape.

High Achievers and Performance Metrics

The 2026 results witnessed a significant number of high scorers. According to officials, 55,368 students secured above 95 per cent marks, reflecting strong academic excellence, while a massive 2,21,574 candidates scored above 90 per cent, indicating a broad base of high-performing students.

At the same time, more than 1.47 lakh students have been placed in the ‘compartment’ category, although the number is slightly lower compared to last year, suggesting a marginal improvement in overall student performance.

Major Reform: Dual Examination System Introduced

In a notable reform, the CBSE implemented a two-edition board examination system for Class 10 students starting this academic year. While appearing for the first edition was made mandatory, the results announced on Wednesday correspond to this initial phase. The move is aimed at offering students greater flexibility and reducing exam stress.

Massive Participation Across India

The scale of the CBSE Class 10 examinations remains vast, with over 24.71 lakh students appearing for the exams conducted across 8,074 centres nationwide. The extensive participation underscores the exam’s significance in shaping academic trajectories at the secondary education level.

The board is expected to release further details regarding mark sheets, re-evaluation processes, and the second edition examination schedule in the coming days.
