Fire erupts while connecting new LPG cylinder in Rajiv Nagar; three-storey house damaged, no casualties reported

Bengaluru: Panic gripped a residential area in the city after an LPG cylinder explosion triggered a major fire in a house at Laggere’s Rajiv Nagar, completely gutting a portion of the building.

The incident occurred in Rajiv Nagar, under the jurisdiction of Rajagopalnagar Police Station.

Explosion During Cylinder Installation
According to initial reports, the blast occurred on the first floor of a three-storey house belonging to Haragayya while a newly delivered LPG cylinder was being connected.
The cylinder had reportedly arrived just an hour before the incident, and the fire broke out during installation.
House Completely Gutted
The explosion and subsequent fire completely destroyed the house interiors, reducing belongings to ashes.
“The fire spread rapidly, but the family managed to escape in time,” officials said.
Firefighters Rush to Spot
Upon receiving information, the fire and emergency services rushed to the scene and worked to bring the blaze under control.

Their timely response helped prevent the fire from spreading to neighboring houses.

Family Escapes Unharmed
At the time of the incident, five members of the family, including Haragayya’s wife Bhagyamma and children, were inside the house.

Fortunately, all of them escaped safely without any injuries, averting a major tragedy.

Investigation Underway
Police have registered a case and are probing the exact cause of the explosion, including whether it was due to gas leakage or improper handling during installation.
