Police in Tumakuru uncover chilling murder after exhuming the victim’s body; wife and alleged lover arrested following suspicious remarriage
Tumakuru: A shocking murder case has emerged from Karnataka’s Tumakuru district, where police have arrested a woman and her alleged lover for allegedly killing her husband and attempting to pass off the death as a heart attack.
The incident came to light nearly 20 days after the victim’s death, when the accused woman remarried, triggering suspicion among the victim’s relatives and prompting a police investigation that ultimately revealed the truth.
The deceased, identified as Paramesh, was a resident of Dasarahalli village under the jurisdiction of Hebbur Police Station. Initially, his death on January 30 was reported by his wife as a heart attack, and the body was buried shortly after.
However, the case took a dramatic turn when authorities exhumed the body and discovered that the death was not natural but the result of a planned murder.
Suspicious Remarriage Raises Alarm
The investigation began after Paramesh’s family members grew suspicious upon learning that his wife Asha had remarried just 20 days after his death.
While the family was still grieving, the sudden marriage created serious doubts about the circumstances surrounding Paramesh’s death. Relatives, particularly the victim’s sisters, suspected foul play and approached the police seeking a fresh inquiry.
Based on the complaint, police launched an investigation and sought permission to exhume Paramesh’s body for further examination.
Body Exhumed, Murder Confirmed
Under the supervision of local authorities and a Tahsildar, police exhumed the buried body and sent it for forensic examination.
The forensic analysis reportedly confirmed that Paramesh had not died of a heart attack as initially claimed. Instead, evidence suggested that he had been smothered to death using a pillow, pointing toward a deliberate act of murder.
Investigators soon discovered that Asha and her alleged lover Chandrappa were involved in the crime. Police believe the couple planned the murder to remove the husband from their lives.
Accused Couple Now Behind Bars
Following the forensic findings and interrogation, Asha and Chandrappa were taken into custody by Hebbur police. Authorities suspect that another individual may also have been involved, and the investigation is continuing to identify all possible accomplices.
According to police sources, the accused have reportedly admitted to their involvement during preliminary questioning, though further legal procedures and investigation are ongoing.
Marriage That Led to the Truth
Ironically, the couple’s attempt to start a new life together ultimately exposed the crime.
Soon after Paramesh’s death, Asha reportedly left her children behind and moved elsewhere, raising additional concerns among relatives.
Later, family members were shown a video of Asha’s second marriage, which shocked them and strengthened their suspicion that the husband’s death may not have been natural.
This led them to file a formal complaint, prompting the police to reopen the case.
Family Had Earlier Suspected Foul Play
Paramesh and Asha had reportedly married for love about 10 years ago, and the couple had two children. However, family members said that their relationship had become strained in recent years, particularly after the birth of their second child.
Relatives also claimed that arguments between the couple had been frequent for nearly a year, and Paramesh had been under emotional stress.
When they visited the house after his death, family members noticed injury marks on the body and unusual swelling, which further fueled their suspicion.
However, at that time they chose not to escalate the matter immediately, reportedly out of concern for the couple’s children.
Only after Asha’s sudden remarriage did the family decide to pursue the case.
Police Continue Investigation
The case has now become one of the most shocking crime incidents reported in the district in recent months, with investigators working to gather more evidence and determine the full sequence of events.
Officials confirmed that further forensic reports and witness statements will play a crucial role in strengthening the case against the accused.
The tragic story highlights how a suspicious remarriage and persistent doubts from family members ultimately led to the discovery of a concealed murder.
