A two-and-a-half-year-old boy dies after accidentally falling into an open sump tank in Byadarahalli under Madanayakanahalli police limits
Nelamangala: A tragic incident was reported from Byadarahalli in Bengaluru Rural District, where a two-and-a-half-year-old child died after accidentally falling into a sump tank at his residence.
The deceased child has been identified as Chirag, the son of Annaiah and Ritu, residents of the area under the jurisdiction of the Madanayakanahalli Police station.
According to police sources, the family was preparing for a wedding function on Wednesday. Chirag’s mother had bathed and dressed him while his father Annaiah, was washing their car outside the house.
During the process, Annaiah reportedly opened the sump tank lid to draw water for washing the vehicle. After completing the work, he allegedly forgot to close the sump lid and went inside the house.
Police said that within a short span of time, the toddler accidentally fell into the open sump tank. By the time family members noticed the incident and rushed to rescue him, the child had already died.
Police officials from Madanayakanahalli Police visited the spot and conducted an inspection as part of the investigation.
The child’s body has been sent to the government morgue in Nelamangala for post-mortem examination. A case has been registered and further inquiry into the incident is underway.
