Air defenses intercept Iranian drones and missiles across Gulf nations as Tehran warns the war will continue until its enemies “regret their strikes.”
Riyadh:Tensions in the Middle East escalated sharply after Iran launched drones and missiles targeting Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and the United Arab Emirates in the early hours of Tuesday, according to officials in the three Gulf nations. The coordinated attack triggered emergency air defense responses across the region and heightened fears of a wider regional conflict.
Authorities in the targeted countries said their air defense systems successfully intercepted multiple drones and missile threats, preventing major damage. However, the attacks mark a significant expansion of hostilities beyond the immediate conflict zone and could have major geopolitical and economic implications.
Security officials stated that the interception was carried out swiftly to protect vital infrastructure and prevent potential disruption to oil production.
Officials said the drones were detected approaching Kuwaiti airspace early Tuesday, prompting immediate military response to neutralize the threats before they could reach populated areas or strategic facilities.
Officials did not immediately disclose the number of incoming projectiles but said the situation was being closely monitored by military and security agencies.
The attack has intensified security concerns across the Persian Gulf region, where several countries host strategic energy infrastructure and international military bases.
Major General Ali Abdollahi, commander of the Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters, vowed that Iran would continue retaliatory actions.
“America and Israel cannot end the war whenever they want. The Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic and the armed forces demand revenge,” Abdollahi said, according to Iranian state media.
“We will continue the war until the enemy regrets and is defeated.”
Governments across the region are now reviewing air defense readiness and strengthening security around strategic infrastructure, while international observers closely monitor the rapidly evolving situation.
