Mangaluru: What happens when a protector turns into a predator? A shocking case has emerged from Moodbidri under the Mangaluru Police Commissionerate, where a serving police inspector has been accused of sexually exploiting women who approached him for justice. The disturbing allegations against Inspector Sandesh PG have triggered outrage and raised serious concerns about abuse of power within the police system.
Allegations of Sexual Exploitation and Blackmail Surface
Inspector Sandesh PG, posted at Moodbidri Police Station, is facing grave accusations of sexual harassment, coercion, and corruption. According to reports, the officer allegedly targeted women who came to file complaints, especially those involved in domestic disputes, and exploited their vulnerable situations.
In one shocking instance, the inspector allegedly trapped a woman’s husband in a criminal case and demanded that she either “sleep with him or pay ₹25 lakh” in exchange for his release. The officer is also accused of boasting about paying ₹50 lakh as a bribe to secure his posting, further deepening concerns of systemic corruption.
“He used his position to manipulate and threaten victims instead of protecting them,” a source familiar with the matter stated.
Viral Audio Suggests Threats Involving Minor Girl
The case has taken an even darker turn with allegations that the inspector cast inappropriate intentions toward a minor girl, the daughter of one of the victims he had allegedly exploited.
A viral audio clip circulating on social media reportedly captures the officer threatening the victim, stating he would visit the college where the minor studies. This development has sparked massive public outrage, as it suggests not only abuse of authority but also potential endangerment of a minor.
Police Department Orders Inquiry Amid Growing Pressure
Despite claims that complaints had been raised against the officer over the past few months, no concrete action was taken earlier, leading to allegations that senior officials may have shielded him.
However, following the viral audio and rising public anger, Sudheer Kumar Reddy has ordered a formal investigation into the matter. The probe has been assigned to ACP Shrikanth, who has been directed to submit a detailed report.
The commissioner has also appealed to victims to come forward and file official complaints, assuring them of strict action.
Victim Claims Prior Complaints to Authorities
On the other hand, the victim has claimed that she had already submitted complaints to top authorities, including the Chief Minister, Home Minister, and the Women’s Commission, seeking justice. She has urged officials to take immediate and strict action against the accused officer.
Interestingly, despite the seriousness of the allegations, no formal complaint of sexual harassment has been officially registered so far, raising questions about fear, pressure, or lack of trust in the system among victims.
