Police arrest 24-year-old accused in Hyderabad after he allegedly injected his HIV-infected blood into a 22-year-old relative who refused to marry him, sparking outrage and serious criminal charges

Hyderabad: In a deeply disturbing incident that has sent shockwaves across Hyderabad, a 24-year-old HIV-positive man has been arrested for allegedly forcibly injecting his own HIV-infected blood into a 22-year-old woman after she refused to marry him, police officials confirmed on Saturday.

The shocking act reportedly took place on March 11, when the accused allegedly entered the young woman’s residence and forcibly injected his infected blood into her body in what investigators are describing as a deliberate and calculated act driven by revenge and obsession.

Background of the Relationship

According to police officials, the accused and the victim are relatives, and discussions regarding their marriage had earlier taken place between the two families. Initially, the woman’s parents had agreed to the marriage proposal, believing it to be a suitable alliance within the family.

However, concerns arose after it was revealed that the parents of the accused were already HIV-positive. Following this revelation, the woman’s family requested the prospective groom to undergo a medical test for HIV in September last year.

Marriage Called Off After Medical Test

The medical test results confirmed that the young man was also HIV-positive, prompting the woman’s father to immediately cancel the marriage proposal to protect his daughter’s health and future.

“The young woman's father had called off his daughter's marriage after it was found that the groom was also HIV positive during the check-up,” a police officer said.

Investigators believe the accused harboured resentment after the marriage was cancelled, and allegedly planned the attack under the belief that if the woman was infected with HIV, she would be forced to marry him and remain with him permanently.

Police Register Attempt to Murder Case

Following the incident, the victim’s father filed a formal complaint with the police. Based on the complaint, authorities registered a case of attempt to murder against the accused at the Pocharam IT Corridor Police Station in Hyderabad.

Police officials confirmed that the accused was taken into custody shortly after the complaint was lodged, and further investigation into the disturbing case is currently underway.
