Gas leakage triggers an emergency response; traffic is restricted as fire and rescue teams rush to the spot
Udupi: Amid the ongoing LPG shortage across Karnataka, a major incident was reported after an LPG tanker overturned and started leaking near Kattapady in Udupi district.
According to preliminary reports, the tanker was transporting LPG from Mangaluru when it lost control and overturned on the road, leading to a gas leak in the area. The incident has raised concerns as people across the state are already facing difficulties due to the shortage of cooking gas cylinders.
Fire and Rescue Teams Rush to the Spot
Soon after the incident was reported, personnel from the Karnataka Fire and Emergency Services rushed to the location and began precautionary operations to control the situation and prevent any possible accident.
Authorities immediately restricted vehicular movement in the area as a safety measure to avoid potential hazards caused by the gas leakage.
Gas Crisis Continues Across the State
The incident comes at a time when residents across Karnataka are struggling to obtain LPG cylinders. In major cities like Bengaluru and Mumbai, several hotels have reportedly shut down temporarily due to the shortage of commercial LPG cylinders.
Officials are currently monitoring the situation at the accident site while ensuring that the gas leak is safely controlled.
