Tehran: In a dramatic escalation of tensions in the Middle East, Iran has reportedly targeted gas infrastructure linked to Qatar, following Israeli strikes on key Iranian energy facilities. The situation has triggered sharp warnings from the United States, with former President Donald Trump threatening severe retaliation if attacks on Qatar continue.

According to statements shared on Truth Social, Trump claimed that Israel struck a section of Iran’s critical South Pars gas field, a move he said was not pre-coordinated with the US. He emphasized that Qatar had no involvement in the initial strike, but warned Iran against targeting the Gulf nation.

“If Iran unwisely decides to attack a very innocent Qatar, the United States will massively blow up the entirety of the South Pars Gas Field at an unprecedented level of power,” Trump stated.

Escalation Around South Pars and Ras Laffan Raises Alarm

The South Pars gas field, one of the world’s largest natural gas reserves, has now become a focal point of the conflict. Meanwhile, Qatar confirmed that fires broke out in Ras Laffan Industrial City, a major LNG hub, though authorities stated that two out of three fire sites have been brought under control with no reported injuries.

Iran’s Revolutionary Guards have issued warnings that oil facilities linked to the United States and American military bases in the region could become targets if hostilities continue.

Israel Intensifies Offensive, Key Iranian Official Reportedly Killed
Israel has reportedly expanded its military operations, with Defence Minister Israel Katz confirming that Iranian Intelligence Minister Esmail Khatib was killed in an overnight strike. Reports also suggest that Israeli actions were carried out with strategic coordination and approval from the United States, further complicating the geopolitical landscape.

At the same time, Iran has reiterated that its stance against developing nuclear weapons remains unchanged, though uncertainty surrounds the direction of its new supreme leadership.

US Military Activity and Political Divide Deepen Crisis
Adding to tensions, video footage verified by NBC News appears to show a US-made M142 HIMARS missile system being used from Bahrain to strike Iranian targets. However, it remains unclear whether the operation was conducted by US or Bahraini forces.

On the political front, the US Senate rejected a war powers resolution aimed at limiting American military involvement in Iran. The vote, which ended 47–53, highlighted deep divisions, with John Fetterman and Rand Paul breaking party lines.

Claims of Internal Iranian Support for Israeli Operations
Former Israeli National Security Advisor Eyal Hulata claimed that Iranian citizens are actively aiding Israeli intelligence efforts, providing real-time information on high-value targets.

“The level of intelligence penetration into Iran is significant, and local participation is playing a critical role,” Hulata said, describing the cooperation as a form of resistance against the current regime.

Global Implications and Energy Security Concerns
With Qatar being one of the world’s leading LNG exporters, any disruption to its infrastructure could have serious consequences for global energy markets. The intensifying conflict now raises fears of a wider regional war, potential energy crises, and long-term geopolitical instability.
