Tehran warns a US warship within range will be targeted, unleashes one of the largest missile attacks on Israel; claims yet to be independently verified
Tehran: Escalating tensions in the Middle East, Iran has claimed that it successfully targeted the US warship USS Abraham Lincoln using cruise missiles, even as it launched a massive barrage of 220 missiles toward Israel within 24 hours.
The Iranian military stated that the cruise missiles were fired from coastal positions into the sea and struck the USS Abraham Lincoln, a key US naval asset. However, the United States has neither confirmed nor denied the claim so far.
Iran Issues Direct Warning to US
Iranian naval commanders issued a strong warning, stating that the warship would be directly targeted if it enters missile range, adding that the vessel is under continuous surveillance.
“If the USS Abraham Lincoln comes within our missile range, we will definitely target it,” an Iranian commander said.
Largest Missile Barrage on Israel
In a major escalation, Iran claimed it launched 220 missiles in a single day, marking one of the largest coordinated strikes in the ongoing conflict. The attacks reportedly targeted key urban centers, including Tel Aviv, Haifa, Bnei Brak, and Petah Tikva.
Initial reports suggest that densely populated areas were heavily impacted, with visuals of damaged buildings and debris circulating online. Casualty figures remain unclear, with only preliminary reports indicating multiple injuries.
Advanced Missile Systems Used
Iran claims to have deployed its latest generation ballistic missile systems, including Fatah-2, Sejil, Imad, and Khorramshahr-4, in the strikes. These weapons are said to be capable of long-range precision targeting, significantly increasing the scale of threat.
