Chitradurga: A tragic road accident claimed the lives of two young men in Karnataka’s Chitradurga district on Friday evening after a KSRTC bus collided with a motorcycle near Nerlagunte village in Challakere taluk, police officials confirmed.

The deceased have been identified as Prajwal (22) and Abhishek (18). According to preliminary information, the two youths were returning to their native village on a motorcycle after attending the popular Nayakanahatti Thipperudraswamy fair, a well-known religious festival in the region.

Authorities said the accident occurred when a speeding KSRTC bus rammed directly into the motorcycle near Nerlagunte village. The impact of the collision was so severe that both youths were thrown onto the road and suffered fatal head injuries, resulting in their instant death at the spot, according to local police.

Festival Joy Turns into Tragedy
The youths had reportedly been returning home after enjoying the celebrations at the Nayakanahatti fair, which attracts thousands of devotees every year. What began as a festive outing ended in devastating tragedy for their families and community.

Local residents gathered at the accident site as the shocking news spread, while the victims’ families were left grief-stricken by the sudden loss.

Police Investigation Underway
Police have registered a case at the Nayakanahatti Police Station and have taken the KSRTC bus driver into custody for questioning. Authorities are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the accident.
Preliminary findings suggest that overspeeding may have been a major factor, though officials said a detailed investigation will determine the exact cause.
Further details are awaited as police continue their probe into the fatal crash.
