Maharashtra shocked as woman cop, aided by lover, poisons father and joins force in his place, truth surfaces after relationship fallout
Chandrapur: In a sensational and deeply disturbing case from Maharashtra, a woman police constable allegedly poisoned her own father to death and later joined the police force in his place, concealing the crime for nearly three years. The shocking truth from Chandrapur came to light only after her lover turned whistleblower, leading to the arrest of all accused.
The case revolves around Arya Jayant Ballawar, a police constable, and her father, Head Constable Jayant Ballawar, whose death in 2023 was initially treated as accidental.
Murder Plot Rooted in Family Opposition
According to police records, Arya was in a relationship with Ashish Mahesh Shedmake, a resident of Bhadravati. When her father opposed their relationship, tensions escalated, ultimately leading to a premeditated murder conspiracy.
It was Ashish who later filed a complaint at the Ramnagar Police Station on March 23, exposing the crime after differences reportedly emerged between the two.
Poison Procured, Murder Executed
Investigations reveal that Ashish arranged poison with the help of an associate. Chaitanya alias Monty Sachin Gedam allegedly delivered the poison in a glass bottle on April 24, 2023, for ₹5,000.
The next day, Arya reportedly mixed the poison into a milkshake and served it to her father. Shortly after consuming it, Jayant Ballawar left for duty but suffered a sudden health collapse and was rushed to the hospital, where he was declared dead.
“The case was initially treated as accidental, but misleading information provided during the probe delayed justice,” police sources said.
Case Buried, Then Dramatically Reopened
At the time of death, the case was registered as an accidental death. Investigators now admit that the probe lacked urgency, partly due to the accused’s links to the police department. Arya allegedly misled authorities, allowing the case to remain buried.
The truth surfaced only in 2026 after her relationship with Ashish deteriorated, prompting him to reveal the conspiracy.
From Accused to Police Personnel
In a startling twist, both Arya and Ashish reportedly joined the Chandrapur Police Department in 2025 and completed their training, further masking their alleged involvement in the crime.
Multiple Arrests, Serious Charges Filed
Following the revelation, Ramnagar police registered a case under Sections 120(B), 302, 201, and 34 of the IPC against Arya, Ashish, Chaitanya, and a minor. All accused have been arrested and produced before the court, which remanded them to police custody.
Public Shock, Questions on Systemic Failure
The case has sparked massive outrage, raising serious concerns about internal accountability within law enforcement and lapses in initial investigations.
