30-year-old Lakshmi dies on the spot after being hit from behind while returning home; police register a case against the bus driver


Nelamangala:  In a tragic road accident on the outskirts of Bengaluru, a 30-year-old woman was killed after being hit by a BMTC bus near Gollarahatti Cross in Nelamangala on Monday night.


The deceased has been identified as Lakshmi, a native of Yadgir, who was residing in Kachohalli, Bengaluru, and working in a garment factory.


Accident Occurred While Returning Home

According to police, the incident took place at around 8:30 PM when Lakshmi was returning home after taking her ailing son to a hospital near Gollarahatti.

While she was walking along the roadside near Gollarahatti Cross, a speeding bus belonging to the Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) allegedly hit her from behind.

The impact of the collision was severe, and Lakshmi died on the spot, officials said.


Police Register Case, Probe Underway

Personnel from the Madanayakanahalli Police Station rushed to the spot, conducted a preliminary inspection, and shifted the body for post-mortem.


The body has been sent to the Nelamangala government hospital mortuary for further examination.


Police have registered a case against the BMTC bus driver and initiated an investigation to determine the exact cause of the accident, including whether rash and negligent driving was involved.


Rising Concerns Over Road Safety

The incident has once again raised concerns about road safety and speeding vehicles in suburban Bengaluru areas, particularly during night hours.


Authorities said further action will be taken based on the findings of the investigation.
