Guwahati: With the Assam Assembly Election fast approaching, the Bharatiya Janata Party has released its first list of 88 candidates, setting the stage for a high-voltage electoral contest in the northeastern state.

The list prominently features Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, who will once again contest from the Jalukbari constituency, reaffirming his central role in the party’s campaign strategy.

The BJP has strategically combined seasoned leaders and new entrants, aiming to strike a balance between experience and fresh political energy.

Key Candidate Announcements Across Constituencies
As per the list, several prominent names have been fielded across constituencies. Ashwini Roy Sarkar will contest from Dhubri, Uttam Prasad Birsingha from Jaruwa, Madhabi Das from Goalpara West, while Pabitra Rabha and Tankeswar Rabha have been nominated from Dudhnai.
From Abhayapuri, Bhupen Roy has been named, Arup Kumar Dey from Bijni, Ranjit Kumar Das from Bhawani­pur-Sorbhog, Badal Chandra Arya from Mandia, Jyotsna Kalita from Chenga, and Raju Mech from Boko-Chaygaon.
Strong Line-Up in Key Urban and Semi-Urban Seats
The BJP has also announced candidates for major constituencies including Himanshu Shekhar Baishya from Palasbari, Bhavesh Kalita from Rangia, Diganta Kalita from Kamrup, and Pradyut Bordoloi from Dispur.

Dipul Ranjan Sarma will contest from New Guwahati, while Vijay Kumar Gupta has been fielded from Guwahati Central. Other notable candidates include Narayan Deka from Barkhetry, Jayanta Malla Baruah from Nalbari, and Chandramohan Patowary from Tezpur.

Extensive Coverage Across Regions
The party has ensured broad regional representation, naming candidates like Biswajit Daimary from Tamulpur, Victor Kumar Das from Goreswar, and Bikan Chandra Deka from Tangla.
In central Assam, Pijush Hazarika has been fielded from Jagiroad, Nilima Devi from Mangaldoi, Ramakanta Deori from Morigaon, Dr. Mukut Kumar Debnath from Dhing, and Anil Saikia from Samaguri.
Further, Jitu Goswami from Berhampur, Rupak Sharma from Nagaon-Batadraba, and Rahul Kanta Das from Hojai are among key nominees.

Upper Assam and Barak Valley Candidates Announced
In Upper Assam, the BJP has fielded leaders such as Sibu Mishra from Lumding, Ashok Singhal from Dhekiajuli, Ritu Baran Sharma from Barchalla, and Krishna Kamal Tanti from Rangapara.
Padma Hazarika from Sootea, Pallab Lochan Das from Biswanath, and Munindra Das from Behali have also been named.
Bhupen Kumar Borah will contest from Bihpuria, while Utpal Bora from Gohpur, Rishiraj Hazarika from Rongkhang, Manab Deka from Lakhimpur, and Dr. Ranoj Pegu from Dhemaji are among other prominent candidates.

Key Faces in Eastern and Southern Assam
The BJP has nominated Suren Phukan from Digboi, Sanjay Kishan from Makum, Pulak Gohain from Tinsukia, and Prasanta Phukan from Dibrugarh.

In Jorhat, Hitendra Nath Goswami will contest, while Bimal Bora from Tingkhong, Taranga Gogoi from Naharkatia, and Dharmeswar Konwar from Sonari are also part of the list.

From the Barak Valley region, Dr. Rajdeep Roy has been fielded from Silchar, alongside candidates like Nizam Terangpi from Diphu, Dr. Tuliram Ronghang from Rongkhang, and Rupali Langthasa from Haflong.
Additional candidates include Kaushik Rai from Lakhipur, Rajdeep Goala from Udharbond, Kamalakshya Dey Purkayastha from Katigorah, and Subrata Bhattacharjee from Karimganj North.
