Authorities launch an urgent containment drive in Bilaspur after an avian influenza outbreak at a state-run farm leads to mass culling and the destruction of eggs and feed.
Bilaspur: In a major health and agricultural emergency, authorities in Bilaspur have culled 22,808 poultry birds following a confirmed outbreak of Avian Influenza at a state-run farm. Officials confirmed on Thursday (March 26) that the drastic step was necessary to contain the spread of the highly contagious virus and prevent further escalation.
As part of stringent containment measures, authorities also destroyed 25,896 eggs and nearly 79 quintals of poultry feed. The disposal process was carried out under strict scientific protocols to ensure that no trace of the infection remains active in the environment.
“Immediate containment steps, including culling and safe disposal, are critical to prevent further spread of the infection,” an official involved in the operation stated.
Containment Measures Intensified Across Affected Zone
Officials have initiated rapid response measures, including sanitisation drives, movement restrictions, and surveillance in surrounding areas. The affected farm has been sealed, and monitoring teams are actively tracking nearby poultry units to detect any signs of further infection.
