Kishanganj: A man who had just returned from Saudi Arabia after nearly 18 months was found dead within hours of reaching home. What initially appeared to be a road accident soon turned into a chilling murder mystery after investigators uncovered a secret relationship, a pregnancy, and a carefully planned conspiracy allegedly involving the victim’s wife and her lover.

The victim, Ehsan Raza, a resident of Bhagpunas village in Kochadhaman, had returned home hoping to reunite with his family after working abroad for more than a year. However, his joyful homecoming tragically turned into a horrifying crime story the very same evening.

Man Returns Home From Saudi Arabia, Found Dead Hours Later

According to police, Ehsan had travelled to Saudi Arabia just three months after his marriage in search of better employment opportunities. For nearly one and a half years, he worked abroad and regularly sent money home to support his family.

On March 5, Ehsan finally returned to his village, bringing happiness to his family members who had eagerly awaited his arrival. But that happiness was short-lived.

That evening, while preparations for Iftar were underway, his wife Shamreen Taj reportedly called him and invited him to her parental home in Dohmohani village for the evening meal. Trusting the invitation, Ehsan left on his motorcycle to visit his in-laws.

However, he never reached the destination.

When Ehsan failed to respond to phone calls until around 8 pm, worried family members began searching for him. Soon after, his body was discovered under a culvert near Malhara Madrasa in the Rauta police station area.

Suspicious Injuries Raise Doubts About ‘Accident’ Theory

Initially, the incident was suspected to be a road accident. However, investigators soon noticed several inconsistencies at the scene.

Police observed that Ehsan had suffered a deep injury at the back of his head, which did not match the pattern of injuries typically seen in traffic accidents. Moreover, there were no visible signs of a crash or skid marks at the spot.

These suspicious findings prompted authorities to treat the case as a possible homicide, leading to a deeper investigation.

Wife Found Two Months Pregnant Despite Husband Being Abroad

During questioning, Ehsan’s father Sabir Alam revealed that he had long suspected an unusual relationship between his daughter-in-law Shamreen and her cousin, Siraj Anjum.Acting on the suspicion, police detained Shamreen for questioning and conducted a medical examination.

Medical reports confirmed that Shamreen was two months pregnant, even though her husband had been working in Saudi Arabia for the past 18 months.

The revelation significantly strengthened suspicions of an extramarital relationship and possible conspiracy.

Illicit Relationship Allegedly Led to Murder Conspiracy

Under sustained interrogation, Shamreen allegedly confessed to the crime and revealed details of the conspiracy.

According to police sources, Shamreen had been in a relationship with her cousin Siraj Anjum even before her marriage. The two reportedly grew close again when Ehsan left for Saudi Arabia for work.

Their relationship allegedly continued secretly, and Shamreen eventually became pregnant.

When the couple learned that Ehsan was returning home, panic set in. Investigators say the two feared that the truth would soon be exposed.

“The accused woman admitted during questioning that she and Siraj planned the murder after learning about her pregnancy and her husband’s return,” a police official involved in the investigation said.

Police say Siraj initially wanted to accept the child, but Shamreen allegedly insisted that her husband must be removed from their lives.

Ambush Planned on the Way to In-Laws’ House

Investigators believe the murder was carefully planned.

According to the confession, Shamreen called Ehsan and invited him to her parental home for Iftar, knowing he would travel alone on his motorcycle.

Meanwhile, Siraj Anjum allegedly waited along the route. When Ehsan passed the location, Siraj reportedly attacked him, killing him and dumping his body under a culvert in an attempt to stage the crime as a road accident.

Wife Arrested, Lover On the Run

After the murder, Siraj allegedly returned home and attempted to behave normally. However, fearing that the truth would soon surface, he reportedly fled the area with cash and essential belongings.

Police have arrested Shamreen Taj and sent her to judicial custody, while search operations are ongoing to locate and arrest the prime accused, Siraj Anjum.

Authorities say raids are being conducted in multiple locations, and efforts are underway to track the suspect.
