Police register case in suspected dowry death, investigation underway in Nagla Khaped village
Muzaffarnagar (UP): The body of a woman was discovered hanging from the ceiling of her in-laws’ house in Nagla Khaped village under the Mirapur police station area, officials confirmed on Friday.
Five booked, including husband
Police have registered cases against five people, including the victim’s husband, in connection with the incident that occurred on Thursday evening. Authorities are investigating the role of each accused in the tragic death.
Father alleges dowry-related murder
According to a complaint lodged by the victim’s father, Sanjay, his daughter Ritu was allegedly killed by her in-laws due to their failure to meet dowry demands. He claimed that her body was hanged from the ceiling to make the death appear as suicide.
"This is a deeply disturbing case of dowry-related crime. We will ensure a thorough investigation and bring the accused to justice," a police spokesperson said.
Investigation ongoing
Authorities are examining the crime scene and collecting evidence to ascertain the exact circumstances surrounding Ritu’s death. Police have urged anyone with information to come forward to aid the investigation.
