Mangaluru: In a tragic road accident, a two-wheeler rider was crushed to death after being hit by a lorry in front of the Indian Oil petrol pump at Panambur on Wednesday evening.


The deceased has been identified as Shivadas Ganapati Naik, 32, originally from Ankola taluk in Uttara Kannada district and currently residing in a rented house at Bijai in Mangaluru, according to police sources. Shivadas was employed at a pharmaceutical manufacturing company in Baikampady.

Fatal Collision Details

The accident occurred as Shivadas was returning home to Bijai after work. Police reports stated that the lorry allegedly rammed his two-wheeler from behind, causing him to be trapped under the rear wheels. He died on the spot due to the impact, leaving bystanders and locals in shock.


Police Investigation Underway

Mangaluru North Traffic Police Inspector Shivakumar M. and his team visited the site to conduct a thorough inspection. Legal proceedings have been initiated, and the lorry driver is currently under investigation as authorities work to determine the circumstances leading to the fatal collision.


Authorities have urged motorists to exercise caution, especially near busy junctions, to prevent such tragic incidents.
