Police, Bomb Disposal Squad and Dog Units Conduct Thorough Search; No Explosives Found, Threat Declared False
Dehradun: A bomb threat email sent to the Dehradun district court on Wednesday triggered a major security response, leading to the evacuation of the premises and a comprehensive search operation by law enforcement agencies. Officials later confirmed that the threat was a hoax, as no suspicious material was discovered during the extensive sweep.
According to police sources, authorities received information about the threatening email earlier in the day, prompting immediate action. Senior police officials rushed to the court complex to assess the situation and ensure the safety of judicial staff, lawyers, litigants, and visitors.
Court Premises Evacuated as Precautionary Measure
As a precaution, the entire court premises were evacuated. Security forces cordoned off the area to prevent public movement while search operations were initiated. The bomb disposal squad and trained dog units were deployed to meticulously examine the court building and the surrounding premises.

Officials said the search operation was carried out in a systematic manner to rule out any potential threat. Each section of the court complex was checked thoroughly to ensure there were no explosives or hazardous materials.
“After a detailed search of the entire premises, no suspicious object or explosive material was found. The threat email has been declared a hoax,” a senior police official stated.
Investigation Initiated to Trace Source of Email
Police have now launched an investigation to trace the origin of the threatening email. Cyber experts are examining digital trails to identify the sender and determine whether the act was intended to create panic or disrupt judicial proceedings.
Authorities highlighted that strict action will be taken against those found responsible for circulating false threats, as such acts not only cause unnecessary alarm but also strain emergency response resources.
The incident temporarily disrupted court activities, though normal functioning resumed after security agencies gave the all-clear signal.
Security around key public institutions in Dehradun has been heightened as a precautionary measure following the incident.
