Chief Minister Calls Parents’ Decision Unimaginable Courage, Vows to Strengthen Jharkhand’s Organ Donation Policy

Ranchi: Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren on Thursday paid heartfelt tribute to 10-month-old Aalin Sherin Abraham from Kerala, whose organs were donated by her parents after her death. Calling the infant “immortal” through the gift of life to others, the Chief Minister said the state government would take proactive steps to strengthen its organ donation framework.

In a post on X, Soren acknowledged the profound grief of the parents while praising their extraordinary decision to donate their child’s organs to save other lives.

“Losing a Child Is the Most Unbearable Moment”

Expressing condolences, Soren said that losing a child is one of the most unbearable experiences for any parent. He noted that the family’s choice to donate organs despite their immense personal loss reflects rare courage and humanity.
“By donating organs to others, the child has become immortal,” the Chief Minister said, adding that such acts inspire society and reinforce the value of compassion.
The infant’s organ donation reportedly helped patients in critical need, highlighting the life-saving impact of cadaver organ transplantation in India.

Policy Push for Organ Donation Awareness

The Chief Minister also stated that the Jharkhand government would work towards strengthening organ donation policies in the state. He emphasised the importance of spreading awareness about organ donation and ensuring a transparent and efficient system to facilitate transplants.
Health experts have repeatedly underscored the urgent need to bridge the gap between organ demand and availability in the country. Public figures acknowledging such humanitarian acts often contribute to greater awareness and participation.
A Call for Compassion and Awareness

The tragic yet inspiring story of Aalin Sherin Abraham has resonated widely, drawing praise from leaders and citizens alike. Officials believe such acts of generosity can encourage more families to consider organ donation, ultimately saving countless lives.

As discussions around healthcare reform and ethical organ donation practices continue, the Chief Minister’s statement adds momentum to calls for stronger infrastructure and sensitisation campaigns across states.
