Adugodi Police crack abduction-for-robbery case; victim lured from Mumbai under car sale pretext, gold, cash and vehicle seized

Bengaluru: In a major breakthrough, the Adugodi Police have arrested 11 accused, including an actress, in connection with the kidnapping, brutal assault and robbery of a film director. The arrests follow a complaint filed by the victim, Anish, after he was allegedly abducted, confined, assaulted with weapons and robbed of valuables before being abandoned on the outskirts of the city.

According to police officials, the accused kidnapped Anish on February 9 from within the Adugodi police limits and illegally confined him at a house in Badarahalli. During captivity, he was assaulted with a cricket stump and a hockey stick, and robbed of 20 grams of gold jewellery, Rs. 30,000 in cash, and Rs. 5,000 forcibly transferred from his bank account. The victim was later driven to Mandaragiri Hill near Tumakuru, assaulted again, and left behind, after which he approached the police.

11 Arrested; Actress Among the Accused
Police identified the arrested as Ashirvada (26), event management professional; Lakshmi Narayana (36), movie production associate; Sujan (21), poultry farm operator; Charan (26), manager with Blinkit; Arsalan (20) and Mohammed Arif (31), electricians; Dhruva (26), masonry supervisor; Sanjay (24), BCom student; Shahid Ahmed (21) and Riyan (20), BBA students; and actress Aishwarya (30).

Investigators seized six mobile phones used in the crime, gold ornaments, a car and cash. All accused have been produced before the court and remanded to judicial custody.
“Based on the victim’s complaint and corroborative evidence, a coordinated operation led to the arrest of all 11 accused and recovery of valuables,” a senior officer from Adugodi Police said.
Director Had Shifted to Mumbai

Anish, a young filmmaker, had earlier directed short films, including “Bharavaseye Jeevana”, and had begun work on a feature titled “Jeevanada Bhashe.” After the project stalled, he relocated to Mumbai. Police sources said actress Aishwarya had previously acted in the film “Bhima.”

Crime Planned Under Car Purchase Pretext

Investigators revealed that Anish had informed actress Aishwarya—whom he knew—about his intention to sell his car. Using this information, the accused allegedly contacted him through the actress and lured him from Mumbai to Bengaluru under the guise of a car deal.

Dispute Over Payment Led to Conspiracy

Police stated there was a financial dispute involving Anish and accused Aishwarya and Ashirvada. Following the disagreement, they allegedly hatched a conspiracy with the remaining accused to kidnap and assault the director. The plan culminated in Anish being brought to Bengaluru and attacked.

Authorities said the investigation is ongoing to determine if there are additional links or prior incidents connected to the accused.
