The rise in demand has been accompanied by higher prices for flowers and fruits. Several items are now being sold at prices that are higher than their rates last week, with some flower varieties recording increases of more than double their previous prices.


The price increase is being seen across different varieties of flowers, garlands and fruits. Consumers visiting KR Market for Varamahalakshmi puja requirements are therefore paying higher rates compared with the previous week.

Flower prices have increased across several varieties in KR Market. The rates reported for different flowers and garlands are as follows:

  • Chrysanthemum: The price was ₹150 per kg last week and has now increased to ₹450.
  • Jasmine: The price has increased from ₹500 per kg last week to ₹1,200.
  • Kanakambar: The price, which was ₹2,000 last week, has increased to around ₹5,000 to ₹6,000.
  • Lotus garland: The price has increased from ₹500 to ₹2,500.
  • Rose garland: The price has increased from ₹200 to ₹500.
  • Necklace for Sampi: The price has increased from ₹500 to ₹3,500.
  • Jasmine garland: The price has increased from ₹500 to ₹1,500.
  • Round jasmine necklace: The price has increased from ₹2,000 to ₹5,000.

The changes in flower prices come as demand rises for Varamahalakshmi puja and decoration. Consumers are purchasing different flowers and garlands as part of preparations for the festival.

Fruit prices have also increased in KR Market compared with last week. The reported prices per kg include:

  • Apple: The price has increased from ₹110 to ₹270.
  • Pomegranate: The price has increased from ₹120 to ₹260.
  • Orange: The price has increased from ₹80 to ₹180.
  • Cardamom banana: The price has increased from ₹50 to ₹100.
  • Moosambi: The price has increased from ₹100 to ₹150.
  • Banana: The price has increased from ₹50 to ₹100.
  • Grapes: The price has increased from ₹70 to ₹170.
  • Pineapple: The price has increased from ₹60 to ₹150.

The increase covers fruits commonly purchased for festival requirements. Consumers are continuing to visit KR Market despite the higher prices to complete their purchases before Varamahalakshmi puja.
