B.C. Nagesh dies at 67 after prolonged illness, with last respects held at the BJP state office in Bengaluru before his final rites in Tiptur
Former Karnataka Education Minister B.C. Nagesh died at 67 after a prolonged illness. The two-time Tiptur MLA died at his daughter’s residence in Jayanagar, Bengaluru. Leaders across political parties offered condolences, while arrangements were made for the public to pay their last respects
Bengaluru: Former Karnataka Education Minister and senior BJP leader B.C. Nagesh passed away on Tuesday after a prolonged illness. He was 67. Nagesh was a two-time MLA from the Tiptur constituency.
Nagesh died at his daughter’s residence in Jayanagar, Bengaluru. Arrangements were made at the BJP state office in Malleswaram for members of the public to pay their last respects from 7 am on Wednesday.
Several BJP leaders, including BJP state president B.Y. Vijayendra, C.T. Ravi, P.H. Poojar, S.V. Sunkanur and D.V.S., had already paid their last respects.
The last rites are scheduled to be performed on August 20 at Nagesh’s residence in Tiptur in Tumakuru district.
BC Nagesh Education and Political Career
Nagesh was an electrical engineering graduate from BMS College of Engineering. During his student days, he was active in the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP).
He joined the Bharatiya Janata Party in 1984 and later entered electoral politics. Nagesh represented the Tiptur constituency as an MLA on two occasions.
He served as Karnataka’s Primary Education Minister and worked in the education sector during his tenure. Political leaders recalled his work in education following his death.
Nagesh’s political career included his association with the BJP from 1984 and his representation of Tiptur in the Karnataka Legislative Assembly on two occasions.
BC Nagesh Death Condolences From DK Shivakumar
Karnataka Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar condoled the death of B.C. Nagesh and recalled his conduct in public life and his interactions with people.
In his condolence message, Shivakumar said:
“Known for his simplicity, Nagesh was close to everyone. He was known for his straightforward conduct and speech. He made his own mark in public life and interacted warmly with people. His services as an MLA and Education Minister will be remembered.”
The Chief Minister also said Nagesh had special concern towards education.
Condolences were expressed by leaders from different political parties following Nagesh’s death.

Union Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy also condoled Nagesh’s death and recalled his work as Primary Education Minister.
Kumaraswamy said Nagesh had brought in many commendable works during his tenure as Primary Education Minister.
The condolences followed Nagesh’s death after his prolonged illness. Leaders and supporters recalled his political career, his two terms as Tiptur MLA and his work in the education sector.
B.C. Nagesh Last Respects in Bengaluru
The BJP state office in Malleswaram, Bengaluru, was made available for members of the public to pay their last respects to the former minister from 7 am on August 19.
B.Y. Vijayendra, C.T. Ravi, P.H. Poojar, S.V. Sunkanur and D.V.S. were among the BJP leaders who paid their last respects at the state office.
The final rites are scheduled to take place on August 20 at Nagesh’s residence in Tiptur, Tumakuru district.
B.C. Nagesh’s death comes after a political career that included his association with the BJP, two terms as the Tiptur MLA and his tenure as Karnataka’s Primary Education Minister.
